Working with documents

Running an AI review on a document

An AI review reads a document against a set of checks and proposes issues for a person to accept, edit or dismiss.

An AI review reads a document against a set of checks and proposes issues for a person to accept, edit or dismiss. Nothing the AI proposes becomes an issue until a person accepts it.

What checks are run

Checks are the questions the AI asks of a document. They come from two places:

  • Matter scope: checks built from the sub-topics and check descriptions in your scope, so the AI looks for what you have asked the seller for
  • Issue check library: your firm's library of standard checks, grouped by area such as Commercial Contracts, Corporate & Authority or Employment, set up by your system admin

The AI also uses the deal details, deal guidance and context documents on the matter.

Running an AI review

  1. Open the document from the Documents page
  1. Click the AI review tab
  1. Click Run AI review
  1. Tick the categories of checks to run. The document's own workstream is ticked by default with its Matter scope checks. Expand a category to see its checks
  1. Click Run AI review

Only the checks in the ticked categories run. When the review finishes, the tab shows the number of results and the status Complete. To run it again, for example after changing deal details, click the re-run icon.

Reviewing proposed issues

Each result shows:

  • The proposed RAG rating
  • A title
  • The quoted passage from the document, with its page. Click the passage to jump to it in the document
  • The check that raised it. Click Show check description to see the full check
  • A description of the issue, its impact and recommendations

For each proposed issue you can:

  • Dismiss it if it is not an issue
  • Continue to open it as a draft issue, where you can change the RAG rating, title, summary, impact and recommendations before saving or submitting it for review

Accepted results show Accepted and link to the issue they created, for example Issue 1.20. From then on, manage the issue from the Issues tab or the Issues page.

Seeing how a result was produced

Click the help icon next to AI review to open How this review was produced. It shows when the review ran and everything it was based on: platform instructions, deal facts, deal guidance, context documents and the issue checks. See How AI works in due diligence.
