Issues, gaps and DDQs
Using gap analysis
Gap analysis shows what you have asked for but not yet received.
Gap analysis shows what you have asked for but not yet received. The AI checks your scope against the documents or index on the matter and lists every requested item, with its status, so you can chase what is missing.
Open Diligence in the left-hand navigation menu and click Gap analysis.
What is gap analysis?
Gap analysis compares what you have asked for with what you have received.
- What you asked for comes from your scope: the sub-topics and their check descriptions, often imported from your request list
- What you have received is the documents uploaded to the matter, or the entries in the imported index
The AI reads both and turns each requested item into a gap line. Each gap line shows whether the item has been received, partly received or is still outstanding, and which documents the AI matched to it. From there you can chase anything missing by raising a DDQ, or waive anything you no longer need.
The AI's results are a starting point. You can check what it found on any gap line, match or unlink documents, and change the status yourself.
Running gap analysis
Click AI re-run to check the scope against everything received so far. Run it again whenever new documents arrive or a new index is imported. Items that have since been received move to Received automatically.
You can also add a line yourself with Add gap, and download the list with Export.
Coverage by workstream
The panel at the top shows each workstream and its sub-topics, coloured by coverage.
Marker | What it means |
· No lines | No gap lines yet for this sub-topic |
✓ Covered | Everything requested has been received |
◐ Partial | Some of what was requested has been received |
✗ Missing | Requested items have not been received |
— Out of scope | The sub-topic has been excluded from the scope |
Hover over a sub-topic to see how many lines have been received and how many are open. Unassigned collects lines not yet matched to a sub-topic.

Acting on a gap
Icon | What it does |
Raise DDQ | Raises a DDQ for the missing item, ready to go in the next round |
Open existing question (arrow icon) | Opens the DDQ already raised for this line |
Waive (circle with a line through it) | Marks the line as not needed |
Click a row to open the gap line. It shows the AI's Verification, including what was Expected and what was Found, the quoted text it relied on, and the Matched documents. From here you can match more documents with the + icon, unlink a document, Edit the line or Waive it.
