Setting up due diligence

Setting up your due diligence team

The Team page controls who is involved in the due diligence, what they can do and which workstreams they cover.

The Team page controls who is involved in the due diligence, what they can do and which workstreams they cover. In practice, it is where you manage permissions for due diligence.

ℹ️

Prerequisite: You must be a due diligence admin to manage the team.

Open Diligence in the left-hand navigation menu and click Team.

Before you start

  • Team members come from the matter's participants. To add someone new, first add them as a participant from Manage > Participants. Not every participant needs to be on the diligence; some may only work on lists or data rooms.

Due diligence roles

Due diligence role
Who it is for
What they can do
Due diligence admin
The corporate team running the deal
Covers every workstream automatically and sees everything. The only role that can import indexes, upload documents, export DDQ rounds and manage the team
Internal specialist
A lawyer at the firm running the deal, such as an employment or IP specialist
Works on their assigned workstreams. Sees all workstreams by default
External specialist
An adviser from another firm, such as an accountancy firm reviewing tax
Works on their assigned workstreams. Restricted to those workstreams by default

Note: There is no read only or view only option. Anything a member can see, they can contribute to. The only choice is whether they see other workstreams or just their own.

Adding a team member

  1. Click Add team member
  1. Tick one or more people. People already on the team are marked Already on the due diligence team
  1. Choose Due diligence admin, Internal specialist or External specialist
  1. Tick the workstreams they will cover
  1. Set whether they can see everything or only their assigned workstreams
  1. Click Add to team

Note: Workstream assignment drives the default filter, work routing and who can approve work. If ‘Can they see other workstreams?’ is off, the member sees only their assigned workstreams and does not see unclassified documents.

Viewing the team

The page has two views:

  • By Person: each member with their due diligence role, workstreams and visibility. Change a role from the Due diligence role dropdown, add workstreams with + Assign, or remove a member with the bin icon
  • By Workstream: each workstream with its lead and assigned specialists. A warning shows if no specialist is assigned to a workstream, because work cannot be routed to it

Note: Workstream leads are set on the Scope page and are shown here read only.
